ABOUT

SOAP Laughing Decvil Designs

Laughing Devil Designs started as a bath and body company, but when Shielaugh realized she spent most of her free time in the kitchen, the company started to add home goods to the line. Starting in 2015, we now offer an ever changing selection of unique and eco-friendly goods for you and your home.

Shielaugh is an accomplished illustrator, she created her line to address the needs of her sensitive skin that is constantly dried out by paints and graphite, from handling papers, solvents and repetitive hand washing. Her sewn home products developed as from making them for her own home, and her constant desire to be more environmentally friendly.

Company Name Orgins: We are often asked how the company name came about. The name Laughing Devil is derived from our names Shielaugh Divelbiss (yes, we have the same name). Laughing comes from the last part of our first names and Devil comes from the meaning of our last name, which is Devil’s Bite.  It was in Shielaugh V’s ad design class in college where this name was created by her friends, during a branding project. She has used Laughing Devil ever since.

About our bath & body products:  We believe that scents can bring back good memories, but that they should be safe and natural at the same time. Using knowledge passed down from Shielaugh’s grandmother about extracting natural scents and colorants, she created her soaps, lotions, scrubs, slaves and balms. Each scent is inspired by places her childhood, spent growing up on an organic east coast farm full of bosch pears, pumpkins, concord grapes, blackberries, christmas trees, lilacs and more. We also incorporates our love of food and cooking (blueberry muffin soap) and her California surroundings as influences. Our healing salves and balms are inspired by antique plant based recipes used prior to modern remedies. All the products are made in small batches using organic or pesticide free oils; organic botanicals, and handmade natural essential oils and healing hydrosols. Laughing Devil Designs is certified Vegan and Cruelty free by Peta.

We limit our exotic ingredients to materials that serve a real purpose and are super beneficial to the skin (like raw cocoa butter).  Our products are all created with sensitive of skin in mind so the base of each product contains only easy to absorb plant oils and natural extracts. Each recipe is tested on us, and our friends and family before it is for sale.

About our sewn home products: We buy end of bolt material, up-cycle sheets and curtains, are given remnants from friends larger sewing projects, to make our sponges, napkins and aprons. We use 100% cotton or bamboo fabrics. Our tea towels are illustrated by Shielaugh and printed in the USA on cotton-linen, and hand finished by us.
